His name is Nathan Guerineau and his voice is raspy, blue eyes like daggers of ice. He mourns the conflict that has torn the nation apart. He wants vengeance on one hand, but secretly longs for peace. He has choices to make and always considered himself a man of honor. But Nathan has not acted honorably, and now the ghosts haunts his waking hours. Those choices he has to make will either provide his redemption, or will be the end for him. He dreams of a lost country where his wife waits patiently beneath the magnolia blossoms, her head bloodied, and he cries out her name; and in the soft-remembered mist she vanishes in a torrent of rain. Nathan believes this must surely be the end of all days, and the serpent in his belly has come alive.
