Because many social media platforms automatically play videos on repeat, I started this project with the idea of creating a motion graphic that could play on a loop. The city of Chicago inspired me; how it is constantly moving and changing yet always sees sunrise, daytime, sunset, and nighttime. Before this project, I had little to no experience on Adobe After Effects -- in fact this was created as a midterm for a level one motion graphics course -- so I learned a lot about the software and working with many layers. The biggest challenge in creating this project was making sure that the first and last frames worked together to create a seemingly endless loop. I found that the export often messed with these frames so I had to experiment with different settings. In the end, I love the video I ended up with, its vibrant colors, playful animation, and successful loop.
