Studying under Bernie Mack at Columbia, all the students learned a lot about the audio industry, audio recording, and audio mixing. One of the benefits was getting to mix projects Professor Mack had previously recorded and mixed.
For these assignments we were allowed to choose from a number of projects and were allowed to use the studio's available at Columbia to work on our mixes throughout the semester.
I chose this project, because it seemed fun, danceable, and sort of challenging. I spent a lot of time on this trying to find the right space for each of the instruments and mixing some sounds together, like the synthesized drums and the drum kit.
One of the big challenges I faced on this project was time constraints and what I might describe as a less than ideal speaker setup in the production booths. However, I think that the final product turned out well and that while I would always like to go back and work on it more, I enjoy this version and so did my peers.
