PSEL #5a: Maryland School Survey Introduction
The attached artifact is the PowerPoint for the Maryland School Survey that was given to the faculty of my school by the administrative staff. While the first part of the presentation discusses instructions for staff to complete the survey, the remainder of the PowerPoint gives faculty instructions on how to administer the survey to students. These instructions begin on slide #10. The Maryland School Survey was administered on March 6th, 2020.
PSEL #5a: Maryland School Survey Rationale
While the Maryland School Survey has become mandatory for schools to complete, it does give school leadership an understanding of how both faculty and students view the school environment. Because of this data, it is a vital resource that school leadership can use for planning purposes. As it relates to school climate, the information provided by the survey helps administrators plan future activities and initiatives that can promote a positive school climate. The information from the survey can also help administration understand why particular students may feel disengaged from the school culture. This understanding should lead to the administrative team problem solving solutions so that all students feel that they are accepted and are a part of the school community, thereby elevating the climate of the school. This artifact relates to PSEL #5a as the survey helps school leadership plan to develop a safe caring and healthy learning environment for all students.
