"Women at Work" is a short experimental film created using archival footage from archive.org. I was inspired to create it after finding "Danger - Women at Work" on the site, a WWII educational film geared towards factory managers preparing for women to enter the industrial workforce. Though positive in nature, there were some things in the film that put down women, and I found many other films like it. Thus, "Women at Work" was born, using archival footage from historic clips to early sci-fi movies. I aimed to highlight the accomplishments of women as well as document the discrimination they faced by using a repetitive editing technique. In working on this project, I learned how to better search for and find public domain archival footage. Additionally, I was able to explore the experimental film genre - something I have not often worked with. I am very happy with the results, and I am proud to have created a film that speaks to the power of women.
